I’m Michael B and I’ve decided to get back into making music again, after about a 25 year hiatus.
Yeah… about 25 years since I wrote song, played an instrument, or anything that had to do with music….except listening to it….alot of it.
Back in the early 1980’s, I taught myself how to play bass guitar. In 1984, I enrolled in a local recording school/recording studio.
I completed all there courses, completed a 100 hour internship and I am/was a formally trained recording engineer.
I proceeded to put together my first home recording studio, when I was living at home with my mom. I taught myself how to play serval more instruments, wrote songs and recorded them for several years.
In 1992 I bought a house and built a much larger recording studio in my basement and continued to write and recording my own songs. I hoping to one day turn it into a business and record other artists.
Well they never happened for a number of reasons.
I never really felt I had enough equipment to complete with the other small “demo” studios (that’s what they were called back in the day) in my area.
Also there was no social media back then I kind of was just making my music in a bubble.
In the late 1990s, I became very interested in the internet, as it was relatively new and exciting back then.
I took up web and graphic design….self taught. In addition to that, for a few years I worked as a web designer and built over 100 static websites for small businesses.
I really did spend much time recording anymore until I stopped all together.
Eventually my studio fell into disrepair and I ended up packing up my gear and putting it into storage. Since then I haven’t even thought about making music again….
…until a couple years ago.
I ran across a couple Youtube Videos about Home Recording Studios. I was amazed at how much I still remembered about engineering and writing sons.
It like riding a bike, once your learn, you never forget.
I started checking out Home Recording Studio Groups on Facebook and read the problems people were having…and you know what…I had answers….after 25 years…I had solutions.
Some of my solutions were “Old-timely” solutions, but I knew they would work.
Fast forward to this past December. I purchase a Keyboard Controller, signed up for Studio One Sphere, and started making music again.
As of date I have one song that is almost fully completed and a number of song loops that one day may be complete songs.
Anyways, that’s my story.
My plans are to write music, do graphic design, make music videos, and release them on Social Media.
…I won’t be creating in a bubble any more.
